Not that you're wrong, per se, but to the degree there's a big "twist" in the movie -- that's not it. We wouldn't have put it in the trailer if that was the case.

the third part is about a game designer. it could be that the other two parts are avatars of the third part character. how do the nines play in though? is it like level 9 of the game? thoughts? clues?

If you look at the HD version of it, you can see that it's not really the sims they changed some stuff.

I think the acclaimed videogame designer desings a game, in wich the television show runner lives, who makes a movie, wich is exactly the whole live (or the movie sequences we see) of the troubled actor or something like that. Am I very wrong, Mr. August?
