I watched the movie on DVD last night. It went pretty much unnoticed in the UK market, which is pretty disappointing considering the favourable reviews and great cast.

I enjoyed reading the interpretations that people have posted on the board and I must say that I 'got' the same idea when the movie ended. However whilst I was watching the movie, and looked "for the nines" (for eg, the sample group for the pilot, the party at his home etc) there was an interpretation I thought of while watching the movie.

I don't know whether this was what John intended, yet this seems like a interesting idea:

There are many references to addiction throughout the movie, from narcotics, alcohol to MMORPGs and love. Prior to the first part playing, there is the brief introduction to G. A man who burns those items and ultimately crashes.

The parts were ideas of induced highs where G had created scenarios of being in control in some respects to escape the reality of losing M. S was trying to help G let go of M, who was anchoring him is some way. G had created realities and manifestations that were in the ride with him at the beginning in his fractured psyche. This fracturing was causing the crossovers in the realities and further disorientating G and the viewer. S was his therepist, M mentioned he needed a psychotherapist too...

So what I am trying to say is that G is having difficulty in accepting his reality and through a crack high we see three manifestations of him in his broken psyche, dealing with the loss of M and having S help him return. Kinda takes the shine off the idea of Him, but rather an idea that G thinks he is Him in his induced state. Trust me, I've seen it happen!

I must apoligise for that pretty bad interpretation, I have difficulty in expressing what I think; and that is why I applaud John for his movie. I have had ideas about reality or the big question of Why and have failed in expressing it thoroughly.

I guess the end of March will have some more activity with the R2 release in the UK.

The addiction stuff makes a lot of sense with what S says in part three, that this is an intervention.
