I saw it in Austin (the one with the Q & A)and I can't help but wonder if was inspired by films such as The Fountain or if it's just bad timing as to when we finally got to see the movie. It's a shame IMDB won't list every factoid I want for a movie...
I'm on the fence about the movie, I liked it more once I mulled about it for a few hours, I just wish the Q & A wasn't so horrible and bit more informative.
I'm going to recommend it to people!
I started writing it about three years ago. When I saw the trailer for The Fountain, my first word was, "Fuck." Ultimately, though, the movies do very different things and have vastly different tones.

I've contacted Optimum and requested information regarding any cinema distribution in the North of England, I live in Cheshire where the cat and cheese come from, which is between Liverpool and Manchester, so I can easily travel to either city if The Nines will be showing in one or both of those cities. If they have acquired the UK DVD distribution rights I'll also purchase the DVD from them too..
